The Second Coming of Christ

I’ve been hearing lots of talk lately about “the second coming” of Christ.

Some believe that this is a second physical manifestation of Christ on earth that has yet to take place. 

Others seem to believe that this second coming was fulfilled in 70AD at the time of the destruction of the city of Jerusalem. 

So I thought I would just throw together a few passages of scripture that I believe address Christ’s coming “the second time” but seem, to me, to show that neither of the above is the case, but that the Lord IS, WAS and IS TO COME; that salvation takes place from WITHIN, not from without; for CHRIST IN YOU is the hope of glory.

Col 1:27
To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is CHIRST IN YOU, the hope of glory:

Christ comes “the second time” UNTO THEM THAT LOOK FOR HIM:

Heb 9:28
So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and UNTO THEM THAT LOOK FOR HIM ((shall he appear)) THE SECOND TIME ((without sin unto salvation)).

How does He come? As “another comforter”, even THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH:

Joh 14:16-20

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I WILL NOT LEAVE YOU COMFORTLESS: I WILL COME TO YOU. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. AT THAT DAY YE SHALL KNOW that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I IN YOU.

And it is WHEN HE IS COME that THE WORLD IS REPROVED of sin, of righteousness and of judgment:

Joh 16:7-16

Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And WHEN HE IS COME, HE WILL REPROVE THE WORLD OF SIN, and OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, and OF JUDGMENT: Of sin, BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE NOT ON ME; Of righteousness, BECAUSE I GO TO MY FATHER, AND YE SEE ME NO MORE; Of judgment, BECAUSE THE PRINCE OF THIS WORD IS JUDGED. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit WHEN HE, THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH, IS COME, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify ME: for he shall receive OF MINE, and shall shew it unto you. ALL THINGS THAT THE FATHER HATH ARE MINE: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you. A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and YE SHALL SEE ME, because I go to the Father.

 

He came first to dwell WITH MEN… now He comes to dwell IN MEN. 

I don’t see that limited to a single event that took place in 70AD, though I can see what happened in 70AD to the temple in Jerusalem and the people of that city as a physical manifestation of the spiritual truth that it points to / reveals – the destruction or tearing down of that which is natural/physical/seen so that all that remains is THE TRUTH, that which is SPIRITUAL / UNSEEN. 

Nor do I see it as a second physical appearance of Christ on earth that has yet to take place.

I see it as the manifestation of the Spirit of God, the Spirit of Truth, the Spirit of Christ WITHIN US, as CHIRST is formed IN THEM THAT BELIEVE. It is the manifestation of THE SONS OF GOD.

It is neither future nor past…. But IS, WAS, and IS TO COME.

Rev 1:8
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which IS, and which WAS, and which IS TO COME, the Almighty.

Bringing LIFE… TO THE DEAD… every man in his own order… (1 Cor 15:22-23)

And though NO MAN KNOWS the day nor the hour, we know perfectly well the times and the seasons… for we know that THAT DAY COMES as a thief IN THE NIGHT.

Mat 24:36
But OF THAT DAY AND HOUR KNOWETH NO MAN, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

1Th 5:1-2

But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves KNOW PERFECTLY that THE DAY OF THE LORD so cometh AS A THIEF IN THE NIGHT. 

For HE COMES….. UNTO THEM THAT SLEEP. And those who sleep SLEEP IN THE NIGHT!!

1Th 5:4-10
But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. 

But we are not to be OF THE NIGHT, but OF THE DAY, for Christ gave himself as an offering for us, so that we might be CHILDREN OF THE DAY and CHILDREN OF THE RESURRECTION. SO let us AWAKE and ARISE FROM THE DEAD, and Christ shall give us light! Let us walk circumspectly, not as fools, but AS WISE, understanding what the will of the Lord is.

Eph 5:1-17

Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth); Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. 

Knowing that the way of LIFE IS ABOVE TO THE WISE, that he may depart from hell beneath:

Pro 15:24
The way of LIFE IS ABOVE TO THE WISE, that he may DEPART FROM HELL BENEATH.
